The measures 2018

Four key measures of the law 2022 ‘never-ending education’ :

Artificial intelligence for predicting training and employment trends

In response to uncertainties in the future of work, AI and its predictive algorithms ensure training is tailored to each individual, according to their skills and changes in the job market. Aptitude tests – repeated throughout an individual’s school and working life – will help personalise training and educational programmes. Once streams have been removed from the French high school system, it is the no-longer relevant secondary education that will be abolished.

Jamming devices for focusing attention and Information

The use of mobile phones and all personal equipment in places of learning will be strictly limited with the installation of jamming devices. These devices ensure a quiet environment conducive to learning, and public authorities can thus protect children from the dangers posed by unlimited internet access. Centralised access to the internet and digital technologies will only be allowed with permission and under supervision.

A “digital citizenship score” for assessing social skills

To combat inequality, a reform of how pupils are monitored and assessed is needed. Using digital data processing, it is now possible to enhance individuals’ pathways by incorporating all the online activities that make up their digital identities. The ‘digital public loan’ will give every individual a score to access higher education and find their place in society.

Social robots for automating learning

Developments in robotics are encouraging experimentation with new educational models. In partnership with research teams, the French government is accelerating the digital transformation in places of learning by deploying social robots capable of recognising, interpreting and simulating human emotions. Particularly suited to language learning, these robots can assist in and ultimately become responsible for the transfer of knowledge.
